Portsmouth, NH – (Marketwired) – July 1, 2014 – Trunity Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB/OTCQB:TNTY) (“Trunity”), a pioneer of eLearning technology that transforms the educational experience, today announced plans to unveil its next generation architecture for the Trunity eLearning Platform. Generation 3.0 technology weds a new mobile app with a major enhancement of its content creation and courseware technology to bring to market a suite of leading edge experiences for teachers, students, authors and publishers. Gen 3 combines a high performance object-oriented database, a powerful API, full mobile functionality, an engaging user interface and deep social collaboration.
In early August, the Company expects to formally release its new mobile app, branded “Trunity Mobile,” to students and educators via free download from the Apple® App Store, Google Play store and Trunity’s web site, found at www.trunity.com.
Optimized for use on iPad and Android tablets with an intuitive, user-friendly interface, Trunity Mobile will enable offline access to educational content on the Trunity eLearning Platform. While online, the app allows students to stream content from the Cloud, providing the speed that students enjoy while connected to the Web. For offline viewing, the intuitive Chapter Manager feature allows content to be managed by the student. Students can download entire courses or only specific portions of courses they require for offline viewing, thus conserving space on tablets with limited offline storage capacity. This flexibility is also important for schools that may have slow WiFi connections. Trunity Mobile will fully leverage the native behaviors on both the iOS and Android platforms. The app will enable students to personalize their content, and instructors to customize their content, anywhere and anytime, just as though they were connected to the Web.
Trunity also expects to release Version 3.0 of the Trunity eLearning Platform for general availability in the fall of 2014. Version 3.0 will realize the Company’s vision for an eLearning software with no rivals: a single, web-based platform that seamlessly integrates content creation, digital textbooks and courseware. Version 3.0 will enable student-to-student, teacher-to-student, and group-to-group sharing of messages, notes, annotations, content and bookmarks in real time, all within a single virtual classroom. As with previous generations, authors and instructors will be able to create their own content, upload content from publishers and from open source collections, such as YouTube and the Encyclopedia of Earth, and to selectively organize that content for use in multiple classrooms and/or textbooks.
Trunity’s Live Cross Publishing™ technology enables instructors and authors to easily update in real-time and share that content with their peers. Instructors can form and moderate virtual study groups or allow students to self-organize into groups. The result is the Web’s most powerful content customization platform for education. The Trunity eLearning Platform also will provide a more flexible core technology framework based on the latest technologies, allowing much broader coverage for functionality accessible via API, and increasing its development of new features and functionality. Courseware such as self-assessments, quizzes, assignments and gradebooks are elegantly integrated with the content to create a robust classroom experience.
Joakim Lindblom, Ph.D., Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Trunity, stated, “We have long recognized the profound potential that Trunity’s advanced elearning technology has for materially impacting and transforming the learning experience for both students and teachers alike; while also providing authors and publishers of textbooks and coursework with the means to reach their audience in a much more expedited and meaningful manner. With the release of Trunity Mobile and Version 3.0 of the Trunity eLearning Platform, we are meeting the growing worldwide demand for flexible, highly interactive and engaging learning solutions while providing a dynamic and enriched user experience that will enhance learning outcomes.”
Concluding, Lindblom noted, “We look forward to working with authors, instructors, students and publishers to realize the educational benefits made possible by Trunity technology.”
