Newburyport, MA, February 5, 2013
Trunity Holdings Inc. (TNTY - OTCBB), a leading provider of eLearning content and solutions, today announced that Drs. Robert K. Kaufmann and Cutler J. Cleveland, two renowned environmental scientists, have authored their textbook, Environmental Science, and delivered their course Introduction to Environmental Science at Boston University using Trunity’s Education Solution. In addition to textbooks, the Trunity platform provides extended course content, learning management capabilities and robust social collaboration tools. When the students were given a choice of using the online or traditional printed version of the book, over 90% chose the online version.
Dr. Cleveland wanted to provide his students with cost effective yet media rich course material. In addition, he was looking for a way to easily embed video, high resolution image galleries and graphics into his book to enhance the learning experience. During his review of other cloud-based publishing solutions he found the Trunity platform to be the best overall solution to meet his requirements. With Trunity, students have the ability to access the course material from anywhere via their iPad, tablet, PC, smartphone or any browser-based connected device.
Using Trunity’s platform, faculty can simply establish a curriculum, create and deliver course-related content, and effortlessly manage their course while monitoring students’ progress. In addition, students can easily retrieve the definition of relevant terms in-line by accessing Trunity’s integrated glossary with a single click. Trunity’s built-in navigation allows students to smoothly move from page to page and chapter to chapter, enabling them to quickly reach pertinent course material when and where they want. Capitalizing upon built-in forum capabilities, students and teachers can collaborate among themselves in instructor-moderated forums, which ensure that only authorized faculty and students to participate.
“It’s exciting to be able to author my book with an industry leader like Trunity” said Dr. Cleveland, “the students are more engaged with the course material because it is up-to-date and interactive - and the integrated social networking capability helps students collaborate with each other based on the course material. Leveraging the Web this way is really taking a 21st century approach to learning.”
"We are excited to partner with visionaries such as Dr. Cleveland to deliver next generation capabilities to professors, authors, publishers and universities worldwide," said Terry Anderton, Trunity Chairman & CEO. "We are positioned at the crossroads of publishing, education and social collaboration and stand ready to help them provide an exciting and dynamic learning experience.”
